Oyibode Meets With Udu Christian Movement, Emphasizes Unity And Development
The Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun (Hon) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, JP FCIA, earlier today, Tuesday, October 15, 2024, warmly welcomed members of the Udu Christian Movement to his office in Otor-Udu, Udu Local Government Area, Delta State. The visit was led by Ven. Gabriel Kpagban, JP, the Chairman of the Udu Christian Movement, and was organized to congratulate Olorogun Oyibode on his recent electoral victory and assumption of office as Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council.
The Udu Christian Movement, an indigenous body representing all Christian sons and daughters of Udu Kingdom, both at home and in the diaspora, was established in 1966. The organization is known for its annual Udu prayer and thanksgiving day, a significant event that unites Udu Kingdom in faith and fellowship.
During the visit, Ven. Kpagban spoke on behalf of the group, offering heartfelt congratulations to Olorogun Oyibode and informing him of the upcoming Udu Prayer Day 2024 and the completion of the Udu Prayer House, set for November 23, 2024. He also requested the Chairman’s assistance in ensuring the success of the event.
In his response, Olorogun Oyibode expressed gratitude for the visit and emphasized the importance of unity within Udu Kingdom. He encouraged the group to extend their invitations to prominent sons and daughters of Udu to help boost support for the event. He suggested enlisting notable Udu indigenes to serve as event chairpersons and special guests, including those in government. Olorogun Oyibode stressed the need for initiatives that foster unity and development in the local government.
The Chairman also shared updates on his administration’s ongoing projects, including the construction of a Council Chapel and a new Executive Office. He highlighted the recent procurement of four (4) official vehicles for principal council officers. He concluded by requesting the continued prayers and support of the Christian body in advancing the development of Udu.
